A1 is the beginner level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
It is designed for learners who are completely new to German.
At this stage, you learn to understand and use simple everyday expressions, communicate in familiar situations, and introduce yourself and others.
🧭 Learning Goals (Can-Do Skills)
By the end of the A1 level, you can:
✅ Understand and use familiar everyday expressions (e.g., greetings, shopping, family, work).
✅ Introduce yourself and others (say your name, age, country, job).
✅ Ask and answer simple questions (e.g., “Wie heißt du?”, “Wo wohnst du?”).
✅ Interact in a simple way — if the other person speaks slowly and clearly.
✅ Write short, simple texts (like a note or short email).
✅ Understand basic written materials (signs, menus, timetables).
